Texture pack smeezle's Improved Axolotls by smeezle

This resource pack works for Minecraft versions 1.17 and up, all versions the axolotl is available in.

This pack remodels the axolotl to give it more dimension but aims to still keep a slightly vanilla feel. It adds 4 new textures, bringing a total of 9 color morphs to the game. All of these textures are based on real-life axolotl morphs. Black melanoid, lavender, leucistic, albino, brown wild type, green wild type, golden, and copper are all capable of spawning at the same percentages in the wild. The rare GFP (green fluorescent protein) axolotl replaces the blue axolotl in vanilla Minecraft, and similarly can only be bred with a very minuscule chance of appearing. Otherwise, offspring take either one of the parents' color morph, or a variant of that morph. Variants are as follows:

Black melanoid : Lavender
Leucistic : Albino
Brown wild type : Green wild type
Golden : Copper

For example, breeding a black melanoid with an albino would mean offspring could potentially be another black melanoid or albino, or a lavender or leucistic morph. GFP's can appear from any pairing and do not have a variant, meaning breeding a GFP with, for example, a brown wild type, could make potential offspring either another GFP or brown wild type, or a green wild type.
